Ever wonder how much of what you buy in America is actually "made" in America? Truth be told, it is surprisingly difficult to find companies that actually make their products in the U.S.A. On the other hand, at Relios, we make all of our jewelry right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

While many U.S. jewelry manufacturers have found it more profitable to farm out work to other countries, we've chosen to stay and uphold our "Made in the USA" value system. Of course, there are certain concessions we've had to make. There are hardly any stonecutters left in the U.S., so many of our stones and beads are sourced worldwide. We carefully select our suppliers to assure that we are only working with companies that share Relios' values. And because we can choose the best in the business from all over the world, we can be pretty picky about the gemstones we use in our designs. Everything else is done right here at our Albuquerque factory, from design, modeling the original, and casting, to stone setting and assembly, all right here under one roof.

While many of our designs are inspired by the native people of the southwest, our jewelry isn't considered "Native American-made". We believe in the power of diversity, and we hire the most skilled workers regardless of ethnicity. We feel that we've been lucky to put together a staff from all walks of life: Hispanics, Asians, and most certainly Native Americans. The culture of the Southwest, after all, is an amalgam of Native, Mexican, and Western influences. We think the Relios family should be too. Carolyn, our proud owner and lead designer, believes this company is our extended family. How big is our family? Well we employ over 150 US citizens. All in all, if the average family is four, we help directly support 600 people in Albuquerque. If that isn't staggering enough, consider that with our suppliers, contractors and customers we're touching the lives of hundreds of thousands of people nationwide.

Guess what else? You may not have heard, but we use reclaimed (recycled) sterling silver in all our castings. That means we're not using, and you're not wearing, silver derived from the mining process, which can be disruptive to the environment and to surrounding communities. While some of our sterling silver chain and our findings are not made from recycled silver, we are actively seeking new suppliers who can provide those items to us in a more environmentally friendly way.

Why do we still craft our jewelry in the USA? Well, that way we can keep an eye on everything, from start to finish. Another reason is that many of our customers tell us that if we call it Southwest Jewelry, it should be made here, and we have since 1975.

At Relios, we embrace a diversity of styles, ideas and people. Our employees speak four different languages, and come from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. We open our minds and align our actions with a variety of cultures, talents, lifestyles and points of view from the world around us.  I t's one of the things that defines our company culture and makes us unique. While we employ diverse craftspeople, including many very talented people with American Indian heritage, and create all original designs, our jewelry is not “Native American-made”. Our jewelry is not Native American-made nor is Relios affiliated with any Indian tribe or arts and crafts associations under the terms of the Indian Arts and Crafts Act.
