Relios Jewelry and the Santa Fe Indian Market

A Tradition Set in Stone

Santa Fe Indian Market

Blowing into New Mexico with the hot desert winds this time of year is a tradition that captures center stage in the Land of Enchantment every August - the Santa Fe Indian Market. For the past 80-years, millions of visitors and collectors have converged on the "City Different" to buy, behold, and bargain for the coveted works of the most talented Native American artists from around the United States.

"The Santa Fe Plaza is the perfect stage for such a spectacle", says Award-winning Relios Jewelry Designer Carolyn Pollack. "At Indian Market, you get this feeling that the pieces have somehow emerged and evolved from the earth. It is truly a magical feeling like no other" says Pollack.

Relios has been adding to the magic of Indian Market for more than 10-years now by sponsoring many prestigious jewelry awards including the Category Award for Non-Traditional Cast Jewelry and the Division Award for Non-Traditional Lapidary & Metal Jewelry Award. This year, Relios has also had the opportunity to sponsor the prestigious Classification Award for Jewelry - the largest award presented for this event.

"This is a big thrill for Relios", says Pollack. "To be part of an event that features works of the premier Native American artists in the world, and those who are clearly on their way to the top of their craft - is incredible! Indian market is the core from where many of our Relios designers draw their inspiration", adds Pollack.

In fact, it was at Indian Market many years ago where Carolyn and husband Bill Pollack met the man who would become the featured Native American jewelry designer for Relios - Roderick Tenorio.

My husband Bill and I were standing in a booth admiring one of Roderick's beautiful sterling and 14k gold cuff bracelets," says Carolyn. "And we became so inspired by his devotion to his art and his beliefs, that we left the booth with not only a new bracelet, but also a new friend!"

Thus began the partnership between Relios and Roderick Tenorio. Today, thousands of collectors from across the country enjoy Relios-crafted Roderick Tenorio designs.

The Santa Fe Indian Market takes place August 18th and 19th on the Plaza in Santa Fe. Relios invites you to enjoy this unique event and help support Native American arts.

Relios Jewelry is a member of the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) which sponsors the Santa Fe Indian Market. Each year the Santa Fe Indian Market includes 1,200 artists from about 100 tribes who show their work in more than 600 booths. The event attracts an estimated 100,000 visitors to Santa Fe from all over the world. Buyers, collectors and gallery owners come to Indian Market to take advantage of the opportunity to buy directly from the artists.
