| As the sun sets over the badland hills of Arizona's Painted Desert, its red rocks are "painted" with bands of pink and gray amidst desert foliage of green cacti. "Hiking through Arizona's Painted Desert is an amazing encounter with the natural colors of its desert foliage and ever-changing dusty rose hues of its red rock formations," says jewelry designer, Carolyn Pollack. She captures this national treasure by pairing genuine gemstones and organic beads in shades of dusty rose and earthy greens with metals like sterling silver and copper. The result is the Painted Desert sterling silver jewelry collection, an Art Deco interpretation of Arizona's rich, red rock landscape and chameleon-like palette of colors. |
The colors of the Painted Desert are brought to life with genuine gemstones including pink rhodonite and rhodochrosite, green garnet, olive turquoise, and the uniquely mottled pink and green unakite. These gemstones and organic-shaped beads combine with corrugated and swirl-patterned sterling silver beads to create earthy strands of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.
Pendants and rings feature cabochons that capture the red rock hues and desert foliage with channel inlay leaves in olive turquoise. Silver-domed, coin edge detail encircles the cabochons providing a distinctive, finished look. Copper, accented with green patina, adds an Art Deco-like quality to the pieces.
